Why Mold Grows in Awendaw, SC Air Ducts

Your AC system works hard to pull moisture out of the air. This can lead to:

• Condensation: Water droplets form on the inside of ducts or on the coils.
• Organic Food Source: Dust and pollen settled in the ducts provide "food" for mold.
• The Spore Spread: Once mold establishes a colony, your blower fan blasts millions of spores into every room of your house every time it turns on.

How We Fix It (It's More Than Just Cleaning)

Simply vacuuming isn't enough for mold.

• Inspection: We identify the source of the moisture (leaks, poor insulation, etc.).
• Sanitization: After physically cleaning the ducts, we apply an EPA-registered antimicrobial treatment designed to kill mold and prevent regrowth.
• Coil Cleaning: We deep clean the evaporator coil, a common hiding spot for slime and mold.

Frequently Asked Questions

• Is that musty smell dangerous? It indicates biological growth. Breathing mold spores can trigger asthma, allergies, and other respiratory issues. It should be addressed immediately.
• Can I just spray bleach in the vent? No! This is dangerous and ineffective. Bleach can corrode your system and release harmful fumes. You need professional remediation.
• Does the sanitizer smell? We use products that are safe for residential use and leave a fresh, clean scent that dissipates quickly.
• Will this help with "Dirty Sock Syndrome"? Yes. That specific smell is bacteria on the coil. Our cleaning process eliminates it.
• How do I prevent it from coming back? We can recommend humidity control solutions, like whole-home dehumidifiers or UV lights, to keep your system clean.
